Builder Hall 5 is the most transformative upgrade in the early Builder Base — the Battle Machine arrives as your first hero and immediately changes the tempo of every attack. At full Iron Fist ability activation, the Battle Machine heals to full hitpoints and deals area damage, capable of clearing an entire section of a base single-handedly if the ability is timed well. Two new defensive buildings reinforce the base: the Roaster fires continuous streams of fire at ground troops, making large swarms of Barbarians and Archers extremely risky; and the Guard Post deploys defensive troops — Barbarians — directly from within the base walls when attackers get close, disrupting pathing and drawing fire away from key defenses. On offense, Cannon Carts arrive as wheeled artillery that shield while stationary and deal massive DPS from range, and Baby Dragons provide the first all-purpose hybrid attacker capable of engaging both ground and air targets with a rage-fueled damage boost when isolated. The 2026 meta at BH5 centers on Battle Machine + Cannon Cart combos — the Machine tanks while Carts output their highest damage from a protected position behind.

Base Building Tips for BH5
Position the Roaster centrally so its continuous fire reaches both flanking corridors — it counters swarms better than any other defense at this level
Place the Guard Post troops spawn point near your inner ring so defensive Barbarians delay attackers walking through your second wall layer
Your Battle Machine in attack will always target the nearest building — place your Builder Hall behind a secondary compartment to prevent early contact
A Cannon Cart defending behind a wall during a ground push can stall the Battle Machine's Iron Fist timing — protect them with walls accordingly
Use Air Bombs in a cluster near the Builder Hall to punish Beta Minion finishers that get sent in after the main ground army is cleared
Understanding the current Builder Base attack meta is essential for building a base that holds on Battle Day. Here are the top strategies used against BH5 bases — and how to counter each one.
Battle Machine + Cannon Cart Combo
The Battle Machine's Iron Fist ability is the most powerful single combat action in the Builder Base at BH5. Timed correctly, it fully heals the Battle Machine and deals massive area damage — capable of clearing multiple buildings simultaneously. Cannon Carts support by dealing sustained range damage from a shielded stationary position. The strategy is to let the Battle Machine tank all defensive fire, activate Iron Fist at 20–30% health to reset, then resume tanking while Cannon Carts destroy surrounding buildings.
Army Composition
How to Execute
- 1
Deploy the Battle Machine on the side of the base facing the most defenses — it will lead the push and draw all fire
- 2
Drop Boxer Giants to the left and right of the Battle Machine to split defensive fire between three targets
- 3
Deploy Cannon Carts directly behind the Battle Machine — they will stop and fire from range while the BM tanks ahead
- 4
Watch the Battle Machine's health — activate Iron Fist when it drops below 30% for maximum effect
- 5
After Iron Fist, the refreshed Machine continues forward while Cannon Carts maintain sustained DPS
- 6
Deploy Sneaky Archers on the opposite side of the base to distract remaining defenses and clean up bypassed buildings
- 7
The Battle Machine reaches the Builder Hall as defenses are depleted from the combined Cannon Cart and Giant assault
How to Counter It
- 🛡
Place the Roaster where its fire stream continuously drains the Battle Machine during its approach — timing Iron Fist is harder when health drops faster
- 🛡
Guard Post troops slow the Battle Machine's forward momentum — deploy them near the inner ring so they delay the push while defenses fire
- 🛡
Spring Traps positioned on the Battle Machine's direct path to the Builder Hall can launch it backward and reset the attack's progression
Baby Dragon Swarm
Baby Dragons at BH5 receive a Rage boost when flying solo — isolated from other troops, each Baby Dragon enters a fury state that significantly increases its damage per second. This makes them dangerous even against higher-level defenses if deployed one at a time to deliberately maintain the isolation buff. A mixed Baby Dragon and Beta Minion army covers both high-HP aerial attacks and fast swarming simultaneously, overwhelming the limited anti-air at BH5.
Army Composition
How to Execute
- 1
Trigger Air Bombs with 2–3 sacrificial Sneaky Archers dropped near the expected Air Bomb location
- 2
Deploy Baby Dragons one at a time, separated by at least 3 tiles — each one activates its Rage solo buff if other Baby Dragons are not adjacent
- 3
Send the first Baby Dragon toward the most dangerous anti-air defense to force its fire
- 4
While that defense targets the first Dragon, drop Beta Minions in a spread formation to attack undefended buildings
- 5
Continue deploying Baby Dragons as solo units — each one should be chasing a different building to maintain the rage buff
- 6
Clean up outer buildings with remaining Beta Minions and Sneaky Archers
How to Counter It
- 🛡
Position Firecrackers to cover the same airspace as Air Bombs — staggered air defenses force Baby Dragons to fly through multiple layers of fire
- 🛡
Cluster multiple buildings together to prevent Baby Dragons from maintaining solo isolation — if two Baby Dragons are near each other, neither receives the rage buff
- 🛡
Archer Towers with upgrade priority become the strongest BH5 anti-air against solo Baby Dragon deployments
